Before we get started on creating our timeline cover, we want to make sure that we have read Facebook's terms of service regarding timeline covers.
Please do not skip this step as it is very important to the rest of this article. After reading Facebook's terms of service, you understand that:
price points or discount information is not allowed
contact information is not allowed (all contact info should go in about section
Facebook references such as "like" or "share" is not allowed; nor is an arrow pointing to any of Facebook's features
calls to action, such as "click here" and "visit us at" are not allowed
Understanding these 4 main points is critical when creating your timeline cover. The last thing you want is for Facebook to disable your account because you didn't comply with these 4 simple guidelines. Now that we understand what Facebook likes, let's get started!
Timeline Cover Size: Facebook recommends that your timeline cover be at least 720px wide. However, I've found that the best size to use that fills your entire timeline cover space is an image that is 851x315.
Upload Cover to Timeline: Once you have your desired image in place, the next step is to upload your cover to your timeline.
Simply go to your home profile page, then click the button to the right side of the page that says "Add a Cover."
Add a Cover > Upload Photo > Drag to Reposition > Click Save Changes, you're all done!
Design (Advanced): If you're looking to design your own timeline cover, I would recommend using a facebook cover collage maker, for example, AmoyShare Photo Collage Maker. If you don't have a lot of experience with graphical design, you can use the easy to use tool. It’s worth to have a try.
